FAQs

What is a registered dietitian?

Registered dietitians (RDs) are food and nutrition professionals accredited through the American Dietetic Association. RDs have undergone extensive education and training in the use of food and nutrition to maintain and improve health, as well as address medical conditions.

RDs must complete a rigorous program that includes:

  • A minimum of a four-year college accredited degree
  • A 900-hour clinical-based internship
  • Passage of a comprehensive national exam
  • Continuing education to maintain the credential

Why should I see a dietitian?

Think of a dietitian as your personalized trainer or coach. Like a trainer, a good nutritionist discusses your goals and concerns, then assesses what changes must be made to achieve the results you’re seeking. The dietitian then develops a realistic plan that fits your objectives and lifestyle, supports you every step of the way, and makes any necessary adjustments as you progress on your journey.

What makes Dynamic Nutrition different?

Unlike some providers, we deliver customized consultations that account for a wide range of important personal considerations. These unique considerations can have a meaningful impact on the speed of your progress and your overall results.

Working together, we’ll devise the best course of action. It’s a partnership approach with us – not a dictatorship – with an open exchange of thoughts.

And, while we’re serious about achieving the results you want, you’ll have fun with the process.

What types of services do you provide?

We offer a full range of services for corporate and individual clients.

Our corporate services help businesses enhance the health and productivity of their employers, while lowering health-related costs. Meanwhile, our individual services enable clients to reach their sports nutrition, weight loss, medical nutrition, and wellness goals.

How does the process work for individual clients?

During the initial consultation, we’ll get to know each other. We’ll talk about your goals, needs, and lifestyle, so we can establish an effective and sensible plan.

You’ll complete a short form, and we’ll cover your schedule, food preferences, what has worked for you in the past, health issues, medications/supplements, physical activity, motivators, and challenges. We’ll develop your nutrition “roadmap” to plot where you are now, where you need to go, and the initial steps to get moving in the right direction.

After this first conversation, follow-up visits can be scheduled as needed to build upon this initial information, make adjustments, and support your progress.

Do you work with clients throughout the Washington, D.C. area?

Yes, we work with individuals and businesses in Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C. region.

Will you come to my home or company?

Yes. One of the advantages of working with Dynamic Nutrition is that we bring our services to you – whether it’s your home or office, or even a mutually agreed upon location, such as a favorite coffee shop, bookstore café, or grocery store. Essentially, any place you feel comfortable with that offers a quiet place to sit and talk.

Where is your office located?

Our mailing address is 5810 Kingstowne Center, Alexandria, VA 22315. However, we will meet at your home, office, or another suitable location.

What are your business hours?

On weekdays, appointments are available during normal business hours. Appointments can also be made for Saturdays, as well as weekday early evenings (except for Friday).

What are your rates?

They vary according to the service. Please contact Dynamic Nutrition for rate information for the services that interest you.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You may pay by cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) on or before the day of service.

Do you accept insurance?

Not at this time. So, insurance coverage is not valid for payment.

However, upon payment, if requested Dynamic Nutrition will provide a coded receipt for services (Superbill) that may be submitted to insurance providers for reimbursement. These receipts indicate that any reimbursement should be made to yourself or the insurance holder, not to Dynamic Nutrition.

If you need reimbursement, please contact your insurance company prior to making an appointment to see if a doctor’s referral is required, and which services are reimbursable.

How can I make an appointment?

It’s easy. Just use the form provided or call Dynamic Nutrition at (202) 391-1167.

What about cancellations?

Appointments are reservations of the dietitian’s time, keeping other clients from reserving that space. So, even if you don’t attend your scheduled appointment, you will be charged for the time reserved. However, if you give notice in a timely manner – meaning at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment (or 72 hours for Monday appointments) – there’s no cancellation fee.
